Buy Beautiful And Cost Effective Bathroom Faucets
For many homeowners, buying bathroom faucets can be like shopping for the right
dress for a special occasion. It takes time to find the right one.
Bathrooms will always hold a special place in new home construction and even
in old homes. Bathrooms have more than a special role in health and living,
they also hold the keys to tranquility and relaxation.
The faucet is what brings in precious water, and most homeowners prefer to
coordinate their faucets with other bathroom essentials – fixtures, accessories
and lighting – to achieve tranquil inner states.
If you want to know which faucets are the most cost-effective to your home
and style, keep these things in mind:
- Your style determines your budget; in the same manner, your budget determines
your style.
- Your basin determines your faucet.
- Compression (faucets) might lead to depression.
- Plastics rarely last.
- Balls tend to leak.
There are different types of faucet in the market today and they cost from
between less than fifty dollars to thousands of dollars, depending upon the
faucet type and the material used.
In terms of style, there are widespread faucets, center-set faucets, single-hole
faucets, and wall-mounted faucets.
There are widespread faucets, all of which have a spout that is flanked (at
some distance) by a hot and a cold handle. They are made for bathroom basins
that have three pre-drilled holes for faucet installation.
Center-set faucets are essentially the mini version of the widespread faucet.
They all have a spout and may have a single handle or two handles. They are
also made for a three-holed bathroom basin.
Single-hole faucets all have a spout and a single handle. They only require
one hole to be installed.
Wall-mounted faucets are made for freestanding basins that need a long spout.
Wall faucets require a separate valve and drain to be installed.
These faucets come in different styles. The cheapest models come in plastic
while the most expensive one, and also the highest in quality, are made of brass.
As to which faucets require little or no maintenance depends on the spout model
or whether they are ball faucets, disc faucets, cartridge faucets, or compression
faucets.
A ball faucet uses a ball-shaped cap that stops or releases the flow of water
coming out of the spout. Chambers under the cap control the flow and the temperature
of the water that comes out. Ball faucets tend to leak more than other faucet
types.
Disc faucets have two discs in them that slide over each other in order to
control the flow of water as well as the temperature. These faucets typically
are very reliable and do not need repair very often.
Cartridge faucets each have inside them a movable stem cartridge that moves
up and down to regulate water flow. A single handle cartridge faucet operates
“up or down” to adjust water flow and “left or right”
to adjust temperature.
Compression faucets are the cheapest faucets in the market and they are actually
the first faucets. But they are also the most prone to leaks and require the
most maintenance. Compression faucets have in each of them a compression stem
that presses against a valve seat. You will know if your faucet is the compression
type if you are required to twist the faucets tightly to control flow of water.
